We are honoured to be invited to contribute an artwork for “100 Friends, 100 Artists” exhibition,
curated by PHUNK in support to raise funds for the TRANSMISSION project.
The theme for this year is “100 Songs”. What is your favourite song? We took inspiration from one of our favourite films, Chungking Express by Wong Kar Wai. One of the reasons which made this film so memorable was its theme song, 梦中人, Dream Lover, a mandarin version of The Cranberries’s hit song Dreams.
This was performed by Faye Wong who also starred in this film.
梦中人 is an abstract mixed media sculptural piece constructed using plaster mounted on black acrylic.
Below is a short excerpt describing the inspiration behind the piece:
“The churning clouds parted as we glided through them, caressing everything else but us.
Soundless we travelled, like a breath of cool wind. We landed in the city, where the streets were
paved with time. Time moves in its own special way here.
Sound asleep, your shoulders rose and fell in rhythm with your breathing, like in a silent film
with a single leaf bobbing on gentle waves through the night.”
