ADM Undergraduates Prospectus 2020/2021

2020

We designed the ADM Undergraduates Prospectus 2020/2021, a yearly publication published by the NTU School of Art, Design and Media. This issue marks the 15th year of the school's founding, in which during that time has went on to become one of Asia’s leading centres of tertiary education in creative arts. The design of this issue has a slightly disruptive execution with a front & back flip-over reading style; the front containing a gate-fold booklet that features interviews with distinguished alumni who have went on to be leaders in their creative industries, and the back containing a documentation of academic and entry details.

This issue was presented in a beautiful cover design that features the anamorphic transformation of a creative straddled between the sands of tactility and the digital sphere. A raised spot UV effect runs over the patterns and text on the cover enhancing its tactility, making connections between the realms of Design Art and Media Art, the two key pillars and pathways offered by the college.

Write a Christmas Card 2019

2019

#WriteaChristmasCard is our studio's yearly self-initiated campaign to encourage people to send a handwritten note or a card to someone they care about for Christmas. Through the joy of receiving, we hope it in turn inspires the recipients to do the same. For this fifth edition, we designed our smallest cards ever in the form of matchboxes, which opens up to a wonderful surprise of a mini polar bear figurine within! Also included are limited edition risograph printed versions of the card!

Circadian

2020

Circadian is a digital exhibition we designed for artist Wyn-Lyn Tan, whose artistic practice is grounded in painting and driven by a visual language shaped through rhythm and intuition. Launched during the midst of the COVID-19 lockdown where people are confined to their homes, the artist installed these works in her own home-turned-exhibition space in a bid to allow viewers to rediscover domesticity, where one’s personal space becomes your world. The elusive and abstract concept of time is further re-emphasised by a rhythmic ticking ambient sound, whilst an elegant masthead reveals different crops of her works at different times of the day, mirroring each specific hour of her 24-hour circadian cycle across the lockdown period.

WKWSCI Open Day 2020

2020

WKW Open Day is NTU Wee Kim Kee School of Communication and Information's yearly student recruitment event in which prospective students get to visit and tour the campus to find out more about enrolment to the college. In light of COVID-19, we helped transform this event into a digital experience, where prospective students can understand the curriculum structure, academic requirements and even take an immersive 360 virtual tour of the school. In conjunction, the digital site also hosted livestream sessions with the faculty sharing about the curriculum and school experience, as well as student representatives #WeeKeepItReal about their personal experiences across the 5 different academic tracks - Journalism, Broadcast & Cinema Studies, Advertising, Public Relations and Communication Research & Information Analytics.

NTU Global Digital Art Prize

2019

The NTU Global Digital Art Prize (NTU GDAP) is organised by the NTU Institute of Science and Technology for Humanity (NISTH) and the School of Art, Design and Media. Taking the form of a biennial competition, it recognises global artists and technologists with extraordinary creativity in digitally mediated art, design and cultural heritage.

The theme of the inaugural NTU GDAP is the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The key components driving it includes big data, the Internet of Things, robotics, artificial intelligence, real-time and deep data generation and analytics, 3D printing, machine learning, personalised health care and medicine, and cyber security. Their effectiveness in shaping the human condition in the 21st century will inevitably call for close integration of technological innovations with areas such as social sciences, ethics, policy, and digital arts and humanities.

We created a dynamic logo utilising a bold wordmark which is deconstructed and reconstructed again over time – denoting how critical thinking towards existing methods and emergence of new technology are catalyse for the vast potential of creativity brought about by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

As the ideas come forth, fragments of them are being presented as 'graphic pixels', a visually arresting graphic device and adaptable language unit that is applied across the all instances of the identity ranging from digital assets to environmental graphics, reinforcing the online and physical experience of the exhibition.

We were also commissioned to design the exhibition publication that detailed the winners' profile as well as the award's manifesto. The cover was designed as an animation of the branding using the lenticular printing technique.

The award certificate for the recipients were designed using a clever technique of printing on top of a magnifying material which distorts the view when one peers through it, reinforcing the manifesto of disruption through art and science.
