2021
CIRCUIT#1 is an online exhibition curated by Dance Nucleus and supported by the National Arts Council (Singapore), featuring a collection of artefacts by Singaporean independent artists working with contemporary performance. As a response to the 2020 lockdown in Singapore, during which all live artistic events were cancelled, artists had to improvise novel ways of harnessing digital infrastructures to re-negotiate time and space in both quotidian and abstract senses in order to continue with their research, creations and productions.
We developed this digital experience to help bring to life these performance works in an interesting and fresh manner. Eschewing the typical online exhibition model, CIRCUIT#1 is a true reflection of the multi-faceted human experiences that can be brought forth through dance and performance. As a inspired touch, brand extensions for the Dance Nucleus organisation were applied to the platform through nifty animation effects such as trailing thumbnails and moire-esque backgrounds, interpreted as varied ways of inscribing dance via a digital realm.
