Yue Hao Jewellery Trade Expo 2019 showcases an impressive line of traditional Chinese jewellery styles such as engraving, cloisonné and gold weaving; key traditional jewellery techniques that featured throughout China’s imperial past. The importance of these antique techniques lies not only in their material value, but also on how they connect us with our past through religion, aesthetic and cultural aspirations.
We designed this year's exhibition space under the inspiration of the Forbidden City (故宫), a symbol of the height of development within Chinese architecture and culture. Meandering between the towering red bricked walls, visitors will encounter spots of treasure, much like the experience of navigating the ancient, walled city of Beijing. Showcase displays of this season's jewellery collection are encased within the walls, presenting modernity amongst a legacy of tradition.
